Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient healing modality of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It has been used as an effective healing tool for thousands of years. Acupuncture involves the placement of super fine, sterile, single-use needles at specific points of the body to stimulate the movement of qi (vital energy) that flows along meridians throughout a person's body.

When our qi becomes blocked or impeded it can affect our physical, emotional and mental well-being. When we stimulate acupuncture points we are encouraging the body's own natural healing ability by promoting the free flow of qi. The beauty of TCM is that it is a truly holistic healing system. It considers the whole picture to find the root cause of any presenting imbalance.

In New Zealand acupuncture is commonly used for musculoskeletal injuries but it can also treat a wide variety of other issues including, mental and emotional health issues, digestive disorders, women's health, fertility and pregnancy support, acute and chronic pain, skin conditions, respiratory issues, immunity support and sleep disorders.

Please note, needles are not always necessary if you are needle sensitive or a have anxiety about needles. I have training in apothecary acupuncture (the use of essential oils on acupuncture points) and there are also other options available like acupressure, moxa, cupping and gua sha. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions or concerns.
